St. Andrews Recieves 2009 Lieutenant Governor’s Community Spirt Award
Local community wins award
September 13, 2009
The Honourable Mayann Francis, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, presented the Lieutenant Governor’s Community Spirit Award to the community of St. Andrews, Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the St. Andrews & District Community Centre.
This annual award program was launched in 2007 by Lt.-Gov Francis to recognize Nova Scotian communities that demonstrate unique strengths and a high degree of pride and citizen participation – attributes the community of St. Andrews has proven to have through their numerous accomplishments. In March 2009, the communities of Brookfield, Shearwater, South Mountain Arm of Gold and St. Andrews were selected from among 17 nominations, all of which showed a high degree of community collaboration and strength. The St. Andrews celebrations included displays at the Community Centre, a children’s parade, an award ceremony, home run derby, children’s activities, music, food and refreshments. ARDA was happy to provide the planning committee with communications support by helping them design their flyer, poster, and program. Congratulations to the community of St. Andrews. This Award is well deserved. You truly are a great example of community development, partnership, and pride.
